King Salomon Deer
King Salomon Deer concept
What happens when you mix a Mouse/Elk with a Kadu? Do they use antlers or horns? What’s the difference? I asked myself that very questions and here is where I ended up.
A long-forgotten missing link between the Cervidae and Bovidae family. Thought to be a distant relative to the Greater Kadu - This mighty ungulate roamed in current day Syria to as far as Yamen and west in Lybia. They preferred arid, desert conditions where they can find isolation in small herds of no more then 7. Standing at a roaring 8ft at the shoulders they are named for their golden crowning horns. A set of false antlers are fused to the Salomon deer's skull, used for diffusing heat from their body in combination with their fatty nose bridge. These creatures are thought to be one of the few ungulates that developed horns to appear as antlers. An unusual adaptation they used their antler-horns for strength displays and attracting mates. Salomon deer are known for charging a threat within a few mere feet, sometimes inches staring down their challenge in hopes of intimidation.
